Today I want to show you two sorts of plants that we are growing and that are very good for nutrition:
(click for bigger)
This is wheatgrass. You can easily grow it by putting some wheat into a plant pot filled with soil, and it's a great source of vitamins and protein. It's actually that high in nutrients that you could almost live on nothing but wheatgrass! The first picture is our first pot, the second one was made a few days ago and, as you can see, isn't ready yet. You can mix it with sweet as well as salty foods, as it's quite neutral in taste, and I especially love it in green smoothies!
These are Alfalfa germlings, which have similar features as wheatgrass and taste a bit like sunflower seeds. You have to make sure they have grown long enough, as they're poisonous before they're ready. (Of course they won't kill you if you eat them too early, but it could cause stomach aches and diarrhea ^^)
This is a peeled avocado pip. I let it soak in water until the root comes out, then I'll plant it in a flower pot in order to get my own avocado plant =)
...And this is what I was wearing today. It's also my new look on lookbook! The doggy skirt is from Urban Outfitters, the shirt is from H&M, the socks and shoes are secondhand and the peter pan lace collar was made by my grandma =)
By the way, my grandma is just the best grandma ever! She's a trained dressmaker and has a big room full of sewing supplies, which leads her to making me lovely new clothes all the time! AND she has a huge garden full of herbs and plants. Her and my gradfather live next to a forest in a lovely house that they built themselves when they were young. They're very, very nice and lovely people and always remind me of the grandma's and granddads from storybooks =)
At the moment my granny (who is a ginger with loooots of freckles, by the way) is working on a very cute and innocent dress for me, which has a lace peter pan collar as well. I can't wait for her to get finished, and of course I'll show it to you as soon as I get it!
One more thing before I leave:
Yesterday I was searching my room for some pretty little things that I could put in a small sack that I'm making for a friend. This friend, who gets called "Elk" by most of his friends (he gave that name to himself, so don't worry), is staying at a psychiatric clinic at the moment, and I want to give him something to bring a little bit of love and happiness into his daily clinic routine.
But to get back to my actual topic: Guess what I found when rummaging around my room! A pack of sea monkey eggs and food, which I seem to have kept for about fifteen years now! It has been an extra from the "Yps" magazine when I was little. Of course I already filled the eggs into a bottle of water- I'll show it to you as soon as the sea monkeys are big enough to take a proper photo =)
I hope I didn't overload you with all of that writing, I guess I'm quite euphoric today so I just had to tell you all that stuff!
Have a good night everyone <3
Love, PL
